Three Days to Santiago: Laura & Marcos' First Cycling Adventure
The Camino de Santiago is more than a route. It’s an inner journey, a physical challenge, and a road steeped in symbolism. For Laura and Marcos, a cycling couple living in Tenerife, this adventure meant far more than reaching the cathedral square in Santiago. It was about discovering what they could achieve together – step by step, pedal by pedal.
Laura, originally from Catalonia, had only been riding for a few months. Marcos, with years of cycling behind him, found in this challenge the perfect excuse to share with her what he loves most. Three days, more than 490 kilometers, and a shared goal: reaching Santiago together.
The journey began in Trasierra, Laura’s grandmother’s village in Cantabria. From there, they rode through Gijón and all the way to Avilés. With 191 km and nearly 2,700 meters of climbing, this first stage was a true statement of intent: demanding, emotional, and unforgettable from the very start.
On day two, they crossed into Galicia. Between laughter, endless landscapes, and the quiet rhythm of riding together, they found joy in the little things: Nutella sandwiches, bananas, conversations, silences. The fatigue was growing, but the excitement of the journey outweighed it all.
The final stretch was the toughest. Their bodies were asking for rest, but the finish line was close. Every climb became a mental challenge, every pedal stroke a reminder of why they were there. And when they finally rolled into Santiago, everything made sense: the emotion, the effort, and the joy of having achieved it together.
A shared experience
For Laura, the Camino was the confirmation she needed – proof that she could do it. Her first multi-day cycling challenge turned into a symbol of confidence and growth. For Marcos, it was about being there for her, sharing his passion, and discovering stunning landscapes together. As a couple, it was an adventure that strengthened their bond.
Throughout the three days, Laura and Marcos wore LABRISA’s Origen collection: the Carbón and Expreso bib shorts, the Olive Green and Cream jerseys, and our summer socks. Comfort, lightness, and design proved essential: quick-drying fabrics that could be washed and worn again the next day, high-performance pads that provided the support needed for long hours in the saddle, reflective details for safety in low light, and spacious pockets to carry everything required.
For Laura, the women’s bib shorts with their practical design made a real difference: being able to stop without removing her jersey or backpack turned every break into a relief instead of a struggle.
More than a challenge
For Laura and Marcos, the Camino de Santiago became more than a cycling adventure. It was a journey of discovery, resilience, and connection. A story that embodies what LABRISA believes cycling is all about: freedom, joy, and the certainty that every ride holds a story of its own.
